BTSN

Tonight was Back to School Night.  There were two sessions, one from 5:30-6:00 and the other from 6:10-6:40.  Teachers were to give two seperate presentations, each during that time frame.  Guess how many Miss Go gave?  GUESS!!!!!!

FIVE presentations!!! It just so happens that the parents of my students choose not to read newsletters or letters going home concerning big school events.  My parents decided to come trickling in, expecting to be given a new presentation, even if it was in the middle of the one I was ALREADY giving.  Inconsiderate, unaware, and NOT KEY.  Back to School Night ended at 6:40, I was there until 7:00, talking to parents of course!  Booooo.....

Conversation:
Parent:  I can see that my child has one check mark because she was not using an appropriate voice.  What was that all about?
Me: Right, she was yelling across the room telling me something.  I understand that she has a loud voice, but when does that, she causes all the students to direct their attention on her, disrupting the class.
Parent:  So what exactly did you want her to do? Raise her hand or come up to you?
Me: Yes...
Parent:  Oh, well I think that she has a loud voice because I play the music really loud in my car.  I have
subwoofers and Im always playing the music real loud.  I dont think she knows that she is talking that
loudly.  Sometimes I have to tell her to tone it down also.

uhhhhhhhh.. Number one, dont you know you are making your kid deaf?  Number two,  why were you defending her if you know she has a loud voice?  And number three:  uhhhhhhhhhh again!!!!!!!

On the brigher side, Disneyland tomorrow... Yes that is right.  Im a teacher gone wild!  Woo hoo... =)

Random Thoughts

It is too easy to get lazy and stop updating.  I have a new friend.  Her name is Meredith.  We met 2 weeks ago, but she still brightens up my day when we spend time together.  You should meet her too.   She is beautiful.  =)

Five things to be grateful for:
-being healthy
-watching a concert outdoors
-taking naps in cars
-close friends
-a wonderful and insightful group of kids... who just get IT

Cambria

What is there to do at Cambria?

Absolutley NOTHING!!!  So.. if you ever feel like unwinding after a stressful week, go to Cambria.  Or go when you turn 60!!!   No but seriously, you can enjoy walks on the beach, tide pools, antique shops, good seafood, and again... absolutely nothing...

It is hard being back at work.  I ended the school year knowing what a first grader is capable of, but my new batch of students are so young!  Its really cute because they are still Kindergarteners...coming into the first grade.  They are still soo innocent, and have no shame or awareness of what they say or do.  For example, in the past two days, two different kids have farted on the rug with no shame.  When all the other kids react by of course saying "ewwww" the child who committed the crime says "excuse me."  On Friday the kids had PE at the end of the day.  When Miguel was getting into line he felt the need to tell his teacher "Ms. Go, I hurt my wee wee!!"   He apparently hurt it by playing on the monkey bars.  But he didnt stop there.  While we were walking down to the front of the school, from the middle of the line, Miguel kept screaming "Owww my WEE WEE!"  After telling Miguel to tell him mom when he got picked up, he proceeded to ask "How do you say wee wee in Spanish?"  Hahahaha... Kids... Too cute...

The poopy diaper

I went to Disneyland today with MaiKhanh and new friend Ke-Van.  After Space Mountain got shut down 3 seconds into the ride, we decided to go eat at Pluto Planet.  All was well, until a vietnam woman cornered her kid into the same side of the booth that I was sitting at.  The kid was standing, looking at me, but I couldnt figure out what was going on.  Then I tilted my head a little more south and there it was... the mother was changing the kid's pull-up diaper, right next to me while I was eating in the food court area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  UNBELIEVABLE!!!  It gets worse... They decided that they were finished with their food, so they start getting up, collecting their trash except they forget one thing.  THE DIAPER!!!  Yes, the vietnam family left the dirty diaper under the table right next to me.  While I SOOOOOOOOOO wanted to say something, they didnt speak English.  So I tried convincing MaiKhanh and Ke-Van to mention something, in a polite way of course.  But those two need to work on their juevos!  So to wrap up the story, three of us lost our appetites, and we needed to warn three groups of people who wanted to sit at that table that there was a dirty, used diaper under the table.  UHhHhHhHH...........

mallow, I miss you!
